Wendy A. Weaver, Ph.D., is the Dean for Academic Affairs at Mount Mary University. Prior to her current position, she taught English, receiving their Teaching Excellence Award. She also served as Director of the Honors Program and Chair of the English Department. Her areas of academic emphasis include memoir, Christianity in literature, and rhetoric and composition.
Wendy oversees international studies, service learning, and Mount Mary’s first-year experience course, Leadership for Social Justice. Areas of focus include best practices in policies and procedures as well as faculty mentoring and recognition. Areas of passion encompass inclusive practices, promoting a just and welcoming environment for all Mount Mary community members, and fostering innovative pedagogy among Mount Mary faculty. She also spearheads many aspects of the University’s Creative Campus Initiative. In addition to serving as Vice President for WWHEL, she is also an active member of the American Conference of Academic Deans.
Wendy earned her Ph.D. in English from Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI, focusing on poetry and autobiography and her M.A. in English from the University of Alaska—Anchorage, featuring genre studies. She received a well-rounded, liberal arts education, as well as a B.A. in English, from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, WA.
